Before taking oath, Yunus had promised the people that he would be able to provide security to his citizens. He also urged the people to help in rebuilding Bangladesh. In such a situation, the student leaders also said in a low voice that this government should run for at least 3 years, while the leaders of the BNP party are demanding early elections. It is being said that the interim government will lead the country for a fixed period and will also oversee the elections to give power to the elected government.
Hindu representatives could not take oath
Bidhan Ranjan Roy, the only Hindu in the interim government, concerned about the attacks on Hindus in Bangladesh, did not take the oath. It was told that he could not attend because he was not in Dhaka, while there are also reports that Ranjan is saddened by the attacks on Hindus and sees the current interim government as a government under US influence, so he deliberately did not come to take the oath.
